8-15 fisheye zoom from cheaper alternative brands, would you buy it ?

Canon has a niche with the 8-15 f4L USM, but that won't take long probably as Samyang, Yongnuo, Sigma and all other brands are producing more lenses lately.
In past I used the Sigma & Canon 15 2.8 fisheye's for nightclub shoots, this still has that something (partymood) in comparison with a standard 24-70 2.8.

Next to partyphotography I do often photography of impressive abandoned places or modern architecture.
Mostly rectangular on 16-17mm, but it would be nice when visiting some wow locations, to experiment on 8mm, 10mm,....

I know there is a Peleng 8mm and Sigma 8mm, but these are primes, so limited usuable, or have to take crops.
Are there any fisheye owners here that would be interested to use/experiment with a 8-15 fisheye on their fullframes at an affordable price from the alternative brands (or without AF, price would drop a lot).

In fact an 11-24 (non fisheye) would also be nice from cheaper brands, time that alternative brands start to produce more of these kind of ultrawide & fisheye zooms

If it was cheaper, yes. I use my Peleng for skating all the time on my 7D, and I would love to shoot skating with my EOS 3 on occasion too, but I'm not a big fan of the circle look. Samyang doesn't make zoom lenses, a sigma zoom fisheye would be super cool. Tokina makes the 10-17mm, but 10mm on a crop sensor isn't nearly as wide as my Peleng. The 8-15mm is the perfect zoom range, but I definitely don't have $1200 to spend on a specialty lens. If the Tokina was a bit wider, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

if you have a 1.4TC you can put that on the lens, and use it on your EOS 3 without the circle

I'm confused on the question.

Either way I owned the 8-15 but ultimately it was the F4 limitation and my ultimate desire for sterographic projection that brought me to the 12mm 2.8 Rokinon. Surprising enough the Rokinon is sharper in the corners and doesn't suffer from CA as bad as the Canon.

Of all the shots I took at 8mm full circle... nothing was ever really epic. It was a fun toy. AF and build was nice but for 1/3 the price I picked up the Rokinon and it suits my fisheye needs. One of the best things about the 8-15 is it's 10mm lock option for crop sensor fisheye.... it truly is a versatile lens that deserves the price tag. Just wish it was 2.8

I have a funny feeling I'll regret selling all my zooms... mostly the uwa. I'll probably end up just buying the 2.8 III now though. It's IQ is stunning.

Well sigma is a lot of those but sharp is not one. Corners are ugly all the way to f8.

Try the rokinon sometimes

I use both of these Canon wide zooms: the 8-15mm (at 15mm normally on FF, and at 8mm on APS-C, and at various FOV on APS-H), and the 11-24mm - on full frame. in my mind they are very different.

for architectural and anything both wide and rectilinear, the 11-24 is unparalleled - a very fine, but pricey lens.

the fisheye zoom is a lot of fun, but's it's not rectilinear.

if the search is for faster and rectilinear, try the Samyang/Rokinon/etc. 14mm f2.8 - it's a nice MF lens.

also, many fisheyes for other mounts can be used on a Canon via inexpensive lens adapters and shot manually (focus) using hyper-focus methods.

as for alternatives to the Canon 11-24mm, good luck - because as far as I know - there are no alternatives. it's unique.

Only unique in that it's nominally 11mm rather than 12mm at its widest

no AF is a non starter for me. I don't have a problem with the corners on my sigma

It means that the Canon 11-24 is a unique lens anymore. The Sigma is just 1mm short of the Canon and while it might not be as good, it's less than half the price.

"any more" is also not accurate. SIGMA has had a 12-24mm rectilinear zoom with HSM auto focus for full frame since 2005.

So Canon was only 10 years late catching up to SIGMA.

Albeit the "Art" added f/4 throughout the zoom range.

My eyes are set on the 12mm Laowa 2.8 lens...

and before you guys go griping about how it's not 11mm... well it certainly is not but it also only has some 1% distortion and the Canon's 11mm has over 4% distortion so by the time you run it through the correction the difference isn't as huge as you would thing.
