Well sigma is a lot of those but sharp is not one. Corners are ugly all the way to f8.

Try the rokinon sometimes

ed rader wrote in post #18223597 (external link)
no AF is a non starter for me. I don't have a problem with the corners on my sigma :-P

I have the Sigma 15mm f/2.8 FE, and the Rokinon 12mm FE. I have no complaints about the optics in either lens. Not having auto focus on a 12mm lens has never been a problem for me.

"any more" is also not accurate. SIGMA has had a 12-24mm rectilinear zoom with HSM auto focus for full frame since 2005.

Yeah, now I remember that one. A friend of mine had it and I used it for a couple days. Very forgettable lens indeed :)

The 12-24 Art is really only decent from 12-17mm but on fails on the longer side. The Canon is the top dog in this department sorry guys.

I don't care about budget anymore. I just want the best glass for my needs regardless of cost. I choose what I choose because I have found what delivers for me. I've sold off anything sub par.

The Art primes are really good though.

Then get a Sony A7R2 + Voigtlander 10mm f/5.6 and a Loxia 21/2.8 (which is arguably the best glass at that focal length). You get even wider, much lighter, much more portable, a higher quality sensor, and image stabilization with any lens.

zero interest in that camera. How am I suppose to be a one camera person and go from birthdays, low light recitals, baseball, football, landscapes, vacationing, etc and be sure the camera is capable at all those fields? The A7 stuff fails on sports. I cannot sacrifice in any area which is why the 5D4 fits perfectly for my needs.

and I cannot stand sony menus or ergonomics.... nor the glass selection I mean cmon buying/selling glass is my favorite past time. I also refuse to own 5.6 glass and my 24 1.4 art is awesome and would rather add the 20 1.4 art to my kid.

The 12mm 2.8 laowa is something I'm interested in

It can be argued that Sony shooters have even bigger buying/selling issues, since glass selection is FAR bigger :-)

You should know how PDAF works on your camera, well, that's how it works with sony FULL time, accuracy and all, most lenses in existence.

Come on, you buy and sell dozens of lenses, but you only have one camera ? What weird case of GAS is that ? :p

Jokes apart, the new Metabones adapter with latest firmware works fine with the A7R2. Haven't stressed it much with long lenses and fast sports, but my EF lenses now work better on the A7R2 than on the 5D2.
If I need critical AF performance, the 1Dx goes in the bag, despite the underwhelming sensor. Everything else is A7R2, so much better.

Well that's not much of a benchmark

Tell me about it ! :)
The 5D2 was my main camera for 6 years, and during that time frame I replaced most of my lenses with Zeiss primes. At least I could blame myself for missing focus

that's great. it's not a problem for me either but I didn't buy into the best focusing system with the best glass to use MF and third party lenses. just my preference.
