Looking for the general critique on composition, processing, color accuracy etc. The photo was taken handheld from across the river. I cropped much of the water and some of the sky. The original is included

Thank you !

I like it also. Color is not over saturated. I like the composition.

You've made an OK image into a good image taking into consideration that mid afternoon isn't a great time of day.

Yep, nicely done. Might be fun to try in B&W too.

I prefer the original.

I agree. Reason being is I think you may have over saturated it a bit. That being said, I think if you would have converted the more colorful one to B & W you would have gotten some fantastic shades of grey with that one. So it's almost there in my opinion.

Well, I took saturation down just a bit. It was very sunny for most of the trip, so I remember it all being bright & colorful.. but not too bright and colorful.

I still prefer the natural colours of the original. I'm all for true-to-life photos. Then again, we start getting into matters of taste and/or client's preferences. Dunno what software you're using to process, but I've found that the curves adjustment that is done for contrast usually gives me all the saturation that I need (unless I use a luma curve, of course). At times I might up the saturation slider to 5-7, but hardly ever higher. Again, matters of taste and market.

I didn't even touch saturation. I did levels, exposure, and changed the white balance on skies, which immediately made them super vibrant. I actually dialed the saturation down after that, clearly not enough.

I updated the original post with the final version, the one I like the most.

It seems the area of interest is far left to just past the middle. You might want to crop the right ⅓ where nothing much is going on (the boat adds nothing), except diluting your image.

What information are you missing? Rivers have boats. This put the spired building at ⅓ from the left — rarely a bad thought.

Should have waited 30 seconds and the boat would have been inside a stronger crop.
