Not a great shot as he caught me totally off guard. He came gliding in while I was shooting some gulls and a crane sitting on the water. I know it's not a Red-tail Hawk, as there were some them around and this guy was larger than them. Later on I did spot a full adult Bald Eagle sitting on the ice. Tried to get some shots, but he was to far away for my 150-600mm.

FWIW, I did replace the sky, as it was nothing but a blah blue. The replacement was one from some I've shot over the last few years. Use On1 Raw to replace it.

Yes it's a juvenile bald eagle. Nice shot!

Thank you Ian. I think I'll run back down there today and see if I can grab some more. So far I've not seen any of them get aggressive, or do much of anything except fly around or sit on the ice, in trees or banks of the reservoir.

Juvenile bald eagles can be fun to shoot. They aren't experienced in fishing so their characteristics are sometimes different than a mature bald eagle.

Good shot. Keep posting!

I think it's a three-year-old bird as it has the 'osprey' look to its head.

I was thinking it had to be more than a year old. It was rather large.
Thanks Al.

Yeah, late 3rd year, looks like. Nice capture, Ron

Actually, I seem to recall that immature eagles can be significantly larger than adults; as they age, their musculature develops and they become more compact, plus their wing and tail feathers are longer.
