Thoughts?
I haven't done many weddings, but I've never had anyone ask me or the photographer I'm working with weather I use Canon or Nikon.

Image hosted by forum (831756) © Tom Reichner [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. Also on the Petapixel webpage, Tiffani issued a prepared apology. The apology is quite lame, in my opinion. When one originally says that your photographer should be using a Canon or a Nikon, how can one later say that what they meant when they said that was that they meant not to exclude any brands or any equipment. What a stinking dumb thing to say, anyway - as if Hasselblads and Leicas are no good, and that brides should avoid photographers who use them. Stinkin' jackass kind of thing to insinuate. . "Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.

The original statement is no longer on the article on the Brides Magazine webpage, but it is repeated, via screenshot, on the petapixel webpage that the OP linked to. It is irrelevant and your published work should be the only thing that matters... I disagree........at least a little bit. I wouldn't necessarily say that published work is the only thing that matters. In some cases, maybe even most cases, printed work matters, as well. "Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.

I wouldn't necessarily say that published work is the only thing that matters. In some cases, maybe even most cases, printed work matters, as well. Also, the kind of camera a wedding photographer uses may in some cases not be as irrelevant as you think. If someone is going to hire a wedding photographer, and something they really want are big prints, say 3 feet by 5 feet, and they are going to be hung in places where the viewing distance is quite close, then pixel count and sensor size will matter, if they are looking for the types of photos that will show a lot of fine detail, such as the texture in the material of the clothes, precisely rendered hair, etc. When viewing a wedding photographers published work, it usually isn't possible to see exactly how those images would be rendered if printed at 5 feet. . I have yet to find a bride in my wedding photography or day to day life that has printed something 5' tall. Heck your lucky if they print a 8x10 any more. I know I know markets very and so do the brides, but realistically for the average bride, it really does not matter the brand of the camera or even if its full frame or crop or mirror less. 9 times out of 10 its the photographer using the camera that makes all the difference.
