Why is it that the thread starter seems to never engage in his\her threads, just starts them and moves on?

Yeah, i made a comment about it in one, that interacting with posts would probably benefit the OP more....no response...

I have sent the thread starter private messages in the past, letting him know that people have replied to his threads with thoughtful, insightful posts, and that it would be appropriate to acknowledge those posts and interact with the responders. Unfortunately, he/she has never responded to my messages . . . . . which I pretty much expected.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I own 3 for the time being. I can see this expanding a little bit more, but not much.

I've been working with a pair of 7D bodies for awhile, and own an old T3 that basically belongs to a friend I loaned it to ages ago.

If I expand the collection it will likely be to add a modern 5D variant. Not sure if I would go with a 5Ds, or mk IV. But the 7D bodies may get an upgrade to mkII variants before then.

Personally I like having duplicate bodies when I'm working on projects, and try to keep things in active usage. I prefer to use two bodies with the plan of falling back to just one if there is an issue, rather than the idea of using one and then trusting that the second one sitting forgotten and untouched in the bottom of my gear bag will actually turn on if there is a problem with my main camera.

But besides fancy shiny new dSLR bodies, I'm also apparently a fan of old film TLRs. They're just plain fun to use. They also have the fun advantage of not really 'going out of date' tech wise when sitting on a shelf for a few years if I don't get around to using them. Plus they look pretty nice while sitting there too, so they have that going for them as well.

Three - 5Dc, 7D, and D60 (IR modified).

If I had to choose, I honestly don't know which one would be given up.

Dear Board,

I approach cameras like a buddy of mine approaches fishing rods and reels. Once, a long time ago, when asked by his wife why he had so many damn rods and reels he replied, "Hon, you can't putt well with a 9 iron. There is a club for every purpose, and a rod and reel as well."

That stuck with me. I have 4 DSLRS, a 40D, 1D2, 1D3, and a Nikon D300. I use them all and enjoy them all. I am a used buyer, and I like to buy old worn out stuff that people can't give away and use it until destruction. I buy a lot from the message boards and I've been pleased with the cameras I have acquired.

When my camera collection gets larger than my fly rod and reel collection I might start to worry, but in the meantime I'm OK.

Regards,

Tim Murphy
