When Aramark got the new contract as concessionaire for lodging in Yosemite Valley, it acquired Delaware North's list of past guests, including e-mail addresses and postal addresses. We stayed at the Yosemite Lodge several times in recent years. I get e-mails offering seasonal (winter) discounts on lodging, as before. Now they come from Aramark instead of Del. North. What's new is that I've started getting postal mail that may be related. First was a solicitation from a nonprofit that supports national parks, then one from the National Geographic Society. Both were disguised as surveys. Of course, they asked for money.
My mailing address never goes online on a nonsecure site. I think Aramark is renting its guest list to advertising agencies, or just one agency–the surveys and cover letters were similar in style. If that's happening, I don't like it. With a bank account or a magazine subscription, you get privacy options, or at least you're told of the privacy policy. I try to minimize use of paper and stay off mailing lists. It just doesn't seem right that staying at a hotel or a camp should have the result I suspect it has.
Is anyone else who stayed overnight in the park getting these mailings?
