My wife and our lovely little girl (pup) Daisy went back to the reservoir today. This time when approaching the area, we noticed 4 perched in one tree, 2 in another close-by, and yet one more in a tree just a little south. While parked waiting for one of the birds to return to the area, a sweet little older lady drove up and stopped. First thing she said when I walked up to her was "You have a pretty big lens". 
Anyway she was also out grabbing shots of the birds. She was shooting a rebel with a kit lens 55-250 and done pretty darn good too!!
Here's one of the better ones. I have to MFA this lens again. There were several that would have been great if it wasn't for missing focus. So I was using that tiny little screen and trying to adjust as I went. Hard to do when there's nothing but bland blue sky behind. Finally managed to get close with this one.
