Anyone else having issues with manfrottos snap tilt head (MLH1HS) not locking onto the top of their lightstands? Seems to lock on manfrotto lightstands relatively snugly (as expected) but other stands like impact, it doesnt lock at all. Theres only so far i can press in that lever. Thought this thing would be universal.

Unfortunately 5/8 th in studs/spigots are not truly standardised.

I'm not a fan of Manfrotto's MLH1HS - especially at their price. Instead of relying on a Speedlite's hot-foot, consider lying them down flat. See Godox's 'S' umbrella bracket (also accepts Bowen's S bayonet & has a 6 in flange for pop-up style softboxes.)

I use Speedlites a lot in the studio with the arrangement shown below.

The lowly gag can secure the flash assembly on a 5/8" arm or on the baby pin atop a stand. Keeping with standardized grip gear means I can mix-and-match for all situations.

Canon, Nikon, Contax, Leica, Sony, Profoto.

interesting, never seen one of those before. Unfortunately too large to carry around for me. I only have these manfrottos as i got them for a steal, too bad they dont work.

back to using my cheap impact tilt mounts.

Hi, Or, maybe . . lying flat - but - still cheap & cheerful - for an umbrella:

This has been an issue with the Snap Tilt Head since they were release a few years ago now. They only made the clamp to fit their own NanoPole stands and baby light stands properly.

they actually dont even clamp their own nanopole properly. I have a nanopole. The clamp lever doesnt close all the way.
