I just love it! Take out the sun/moon and you could probably fool anyone into thinking is was just after sunset.

It would probably be "cheating" to some, but I would personally clone out those few lights on the left, the one long yellow light reflected in the water, and also the white rooftops/boat dock covers into the shadows. Not that they're distracting, but it would just top off an already perfect photo.

Those boaters had quite the view!

Just out of curiosity.............why, when the sun is 93 million miles from earth, that people think they'll have a closer look standing on top of a mountain? Hmmmmmmmmm?

Don't even begin to think I'm criticizing your images.
Just a natural curiosity.

Probably for the same reason they believe they need to be applying their brakes while climbing said mountain :)

Thanks and you are right about believing it was a normal sunset.. unless you look closely and realize all those clouds are lit from the top and not the bottom. lol Pretty unique but I don't think most people would notice that.

Shot on the road from Whitby to York (UK). Grey skies were thwarting me at every turn. When we came across this site the light was flat. I waited a few minutes and was walking back to the car when I felt the sky brightening. I quickly turned around, ran back to the ridge and captured this image as mottled light hit the valley of lavender, 30 seconds later, it was flat again.

I think you'll find that's heather! It's in full bloom at the moment here in the U.K.

Maybe because they know they'll have less dirty atmosphere to look through. That's why observatories are usually at the tops of mountains.

Looks fantastic to me. It's not how you got it, it's that you got it.

The fall colors were on full display in Patagonia but an early snow storm gave this scene an interesting contrast with cool snow in the foreground and warm fall colors throughout the rest of the frame.
