Against my better thoughts I'm going to post a miss. I don't understand why other than a combination of my not tracking and the camera/lens missing. Suddenly 3 of them came up the channel from the south (to my right where the brush was I'm hiding behind). They would glide in, then with legs dropped, it was like they had after-burners. There were a Gulls congregated on the far side. Needless to say they began scattering like Quail flushing. Talk about busy.. which do I lock onto, that one, no this, no there's one going in. So I manage to get focus (AI) locked and following him hit the shutter, 7fps,

He hits that water, water sprays, I'm following him. He makes the catch,

Well I figured out what it was.. TOO BIG of a target. Ring-Billed Gulls. Noticed 2 going after the one, so decided to grab some shots, really couldn't see what was really going on with my naked eye, but the photos revealed what was happening.

Day started out with horrible overcast, gray clouds as the first one shoes. Then they broke up as the second one shows. These both were cropped heavily. They seemed more skittish today and couldn't get very close at all.
