It WAS monitored........it was sending out goods packaged correctly with no problems of any kind reported, from around Thanksgiving!

I guess the operative word is "WAS". So; just bad luck then - maybe a little misplaced optimism? Intermittent problems are the worst.

To err is human. It requires a computer to ....

I used to work in the Dot Com division of a very large retailer. We had packaging machines but they were seperate: one for dunnage and the other for taping the package. The dunnage machine wasn't automatic: a person controlled how much dunnage was added to each package.

Is your machine fully automatic? That would be cool to see.

In a former life, I supplied automation equipment for the assembly of printed circuit boards. I loved that job. When the Hi Tech bubble burst, that was the end of that.

Machines automating processes like that are always interesting, I'd be interested to see it at work and learn how its machine vision system (presumably) evaluates the dunnage needed.

I recently bought a 70-200L II and printer combo at Adorama (lens, printer, paper, filters, cleaning kit). It arrived a few minutes ago. When I opened the box, this is how it was packaged.

Am I being unreasonable in being upset with this? The lens traveled 900 miles via UPS bouncing around inside the larger box. Shouldn't there be a little more bubble wrap (other than one sheet placed below the photo paper)?

I would never consider sending a buyer a piece of camera equipment where anything had the slightest chance of moving around. I know the lens itself is inside it's own packaging, but still.

Anyway, am I being unreasonable at being upset with this?

I thought it was only with 100-400mm bundle deal with Adorama. I've seen same packaging with 100-400mk II bundle on another thread.

This same situation is on two different threads. This one and the thread about the printer / 100-400 II deal. Same problem just on two different threads.

Yes, my apologies if there was confusion. When the deal came out, they were offering the same bundle deal for the 100-400 and the 70-200. I was excited about the deal and posted in that thread rather than starting a new thread about the 70-200. When it arrived, I posted there and started this thread.

UPDATE: Helen has been awesome. I decided to replace the lens and Adorama has sent me info on how to do that. I really appreciate how Helen and Adorama has dealt with the issue and am happy that I can continue to recommend them to others.

I ordered the 50mm and 10-18 combo. Hopefully mine is well packaged when it arrives.

Completely okay.
I don't see any problem with this packaging.
If you're having a buyer's remorse, you could always return it using whatever excuse you could come up with.

Bigpow, feel free to read my posts in the thread before you decide what my intentions are (were). Where, in any of my posts, did I show any indications of having buyer's remorse?
