I have just purchased a surface book i7 16gb with the old base (1gb gpu) to replace my 4 year i7 16gb 13" MBP. I have migrated my old catalog as mentioned in this thread: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1472732

I have been tinkering with it and there have been some freezing especially when connecting my 2TB Fat32 formatted external HDD.

There have also been freezing when editing a 75 picture catalog of RAW files from a sony a6000. I have created this new LR catalog. My old catalog is in the ext HDD that I have not gotten to load yet because of the freeze up that has been happening when connecting my ext HDD.

I have read that disabling the dGPU of the surface book would help, but I found it daunting because it involves writing a simple code based on this LR website: https://lightroom-blog.com …when-crashing-on-startup/ (external link)

I cannot find if this has been resolved as I find these post about a year old.

Yes I have updated the drivers on the surface book. I bought one when it first launched and it was bug ridden and returned it. I re-bought it now hoping that these bugs were gone. Most of the bugs are gone but this LR hanging is driving me crazy.

Maybe someone can help? Thanks guys!

UPDATE:

I have learned to disable dGPU of the lightroom through the NVIDIA control panel. LR runs quite smoothly now.

So what is the point of the dGPU if I cannot effectively run both GPU's on lightroom and Photoshop?
