To do realize he has taken thousands and thousands of photos? Im many of those would meet your standards.

You do realize that it only needs handful of shots to capture the entire legacy of the Obama presidency, right? You don't need thousands and thousands of shots Beside, you are capturing several key moments in his administration. Or there are only several key moments in his presidency that define who he is. Of course. all the good shots are being buried by all those candid, family, get together snap shots.

Can you tell us how you know in advance which events these would be, otherwise, I can't see how he can possibly do his job without taking thousands and thousands of shots?

The thing is that there aren't 2 millions key moments in his administration that would define his presidency. It shouldn't be too hard to highlight his legacy with a handful of important shots. Is not like you shoot more, you get more important photos of his presidency.

I really don't understand that logic at all, he's taken thousands of shots, and he should bin 99.9999999% of them and only use four or five that 'define' his legacy?? Have you seen how many followers this guy has on social media/flickr for the thousands of pics he's posted? I know it's PR, but he has taken some fantastic iconic shots, the vast majority of which were moments that do not 'define' his legacy as a president, but they certainly do as a person.

But you don't know what the key moments are until after they have happened, and you can't go back and photograph them retrospectively.

So that's his defining moments in your opinion, how would Souza have known this in advance and only taken shots of those events?

Well, I guess being a White House photographer does not mean you understand domestic and international politics especially when you are traveling with the president most of the time...hehehehe....

Because the entire world is being affected by them??? Just a guess. I mean...Obama was about to bomb Syria? Big deal enough? And Snowden ended up in HK and later in Russia and claiming to reveal how the NSA spies on the world. Yeah...that's a big deal. Being a White House photographer I guess you won't know if WW3 started either....

WW3 started... I am not sure if I need hindsight to understand its geopolitical ramification...

Anyway, I'm not going to do politics, so I'm out....

The shooting of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was hardly in the news at the time., you would have expected every reporter well versed in geopolitical politics at the time would have been there with a cameraman ready to capture the most important event in the last century.

Now AFTER the event we know how important it was, but on the day itself the vast majority of the world couldn't have cared less, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

LOL...hey, the White House photographer isn't good enough to be a photojournalist working for any one of the major news publications, apparently, since he needs hindsight to understand news in general. News and events didn't happen and disappear in one day..but ongoing events lasting for days, weeks, and months.

So, he spent most of his time taking photos of candid shots with the president's friends and other get together events. Nice...... That's why he is the best....

Or he posts those photos because they aren't the standard boring photo of a few people just sitting around talking policy, even though he has all of those for the historians.

Snowden Saga.

The negotiation with Putin to destroy the Assad chemical weapons because Obama was about to bomb Syria. Many believe that because he didn't order to go to war against Assad, his moderate rebel plan won't have failed.

Obamacare of course.

His moderate rebel plan to fight the ISIS supposedly.

Ukrainian crisis and the annexation of Crimea. His speech about Russia being a nobody country.

Afghan drone war.

The Euro crisis.

Israel and how Netanyahau managed to speak at the US congress with the Obama objection.

These are just few key moments of his presidency that defined his administration.

Are none of those in the collection? I know there is a shot of the president and crew monitoring the assault on Osama Bin Laden's compound...are you sure there aren't any other "defining moments" among the 2 million images?
