Sounds like you’re starting from scratch.
I’d get the smaller Cheetah soup bowl quick setup. It has the fast open umbrella like frame. Get it with the deflected plate and flat Bowens adapter ring.
Then get cheetah/Adorama/Godox ad 200 and the ad- B2 head.

Great setup for headshot, portrait set. And reasonable in light wind with steardy stand.

I use the Glow Parapop 38" outside and love it. In my experience no matter what I use, I prefer to have someone hold it so the wind won't knock it over.

That 31" Quickbox by Glow you mentioned is pretty good outdoors in the wind if you don't mind square catch lights. It's my go-to modifier when it's very windy out. Very usable for half body portraits. Also it's super cheap. Otherwise sticking with 36-48 inch size is probably best. Still very manageable outdoors even with little bit of wind.

It is a copy of Elinchrom Deep Octa.

In what way? It doesn't appear to share anything with the Rotalux.

For situations where using the AD200 bare is called for, do other users tend to just use the fresnel head, or do you pop the bare bulb on with the circular reflector (the type that was originally included with the AD180/AD360)? I'll be selling at least one of my two AD360s when I get back from this deployment and wondering if I need to pick up a reflector or two to have with my AD200s.

Depends on the light you want. The fresnel is really hot at the center and falls of quickly. The reflector has a good spread, broader than the fresnel, and a clean shadow, though it is flat.

TBH I have yet to find a situation where I'd prefer the fresnel over almost anything else. Maybe tabletop one day. But for everything else - bare bulb into a good modifier (Photek, soft silver PLM, small Octa, even the diffused reflector through another layer of diffusion can be great).

To clarify, I'm talking about this reflector:

I'll probably just pick up a couple more since I already have two sets of the grids/color disks.

I use the bigger 7" reflector that came with AD600. Instead of color gels it would be nice if someone was selling CTO, CTS, CTB etc. in different strengths, so much more useful.

I use the fresnel head instead of the small reflector. There is a small difference in the light between the two, but I find the hassle of the small reflector to be too much for the (very) minor change in light quality. Bouncing the fresnel off a piece of white paper gets you a larger source, with a wider and (IMHO) nicer light than the reflector. Not to mention how nice and compact the 200 is with the fresnel head.

I still use the small reflector, but it's very rarel and nine out of ten of those times, it's to use the gels, or the grid, for products or studio background work.

Wow, I see a huge difference in the light between the Fresnel head and the small reflector. Hee-yuuge.

I would think bouncing off the white card outside will be much harder as you need a stand to hold the card.
