What is going on with Yahoo and its Toolbar? my wife still uses internet explorer on her win 7 set up, but she was getting messages about yahoo toolbar not being available from Dec 2016.
So she went looking for an update for this and she kept getting told she needs to install firefox to use yahoo toolbar.

What is going on - firefox as far as I know has nothing to do with internet explorer or yahoo, so why now do you have to have them both so that yahoo toolbar will work with win 7?

Any ideas please folks?

Say byebye to your Yahoo Toolbar. I don't think there's even a Yahoo Toolbar for Firefox anymore, but Yahoo is the default search engine in Firefox.

Why use Yahoo at all? Besides having been hacked in a big way, lots of people have problems (external link) with it.

Windows 7 isn't supported. Upgrade to Windows 10. Sounds like the toolbar won't be available soon, or at least won't be supported - with Yahoo's poor security record I wouldn't run unsupported software from them. I wouldn't run any software from them actually.

You don't need a toolbar, just log into the yahoo email website, or you can set up an email client.

You're needlessly shackling yourselves to a sinking ship. Yahoo is seriously one of the worst email providers you could use. I'd put them below AOL at this point and that's really saying something.

Sadly, they do as a wholly owned subsidiary of Verizon.
