My Nikon dslr camera rubber cover panel is pealing off.... It happened to me the same with my old Nikon. It seems to be a permanent problem with Nikon cameras. Do you have any glue recommendation? The glue needs to be flexible enough and keep the rubber panel on the metal housing of the camera....
Thanks so much!

I have posted this before and got poo pood but it works. I used it for almost 30 years in the camera repair field. Owned my own shop. Use rubber cement. It hold well and is flexible. I replaced the coverings on my old Canon F-1 about 20 years ago. Still holding well, and I use, and have used the camera on a regular basis. Plus it's cheap and easily purchased.

Forgot to add. If the corners or edges are rolling up, use a hairdryer to warm the problem areas and gently roll them inward to relieve tension.

Rubber cement might work but it's a rather poor glue.WeldWood Contact cement (external link) is way better. Be careful gluing it though as this stuff is pretty permanent.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Contact cement will make it impossible to remove the coverings without destroying if service is needed. That kind of strength is rarely, if ever, needed for something like vinyl coverings.

Never use cement on camera grips unless you're certain you won't need to have the camera serviced in the future. It's also possible that it may bleed into the interior of the camera itself, depending on the camera's construction.

Use what the factory and repair techs use: something similar to 3M 300LSE double-sided adhesive tape. It's thin and very strong:

I cut a section to fit on a curved panel of one of my SLRs, cleaned off the original piece of grip material and camera body with isopropyl, and re-installed it. Works great, and you also don't have any problems with the glue shrinking or expanding when it sets.
