This was shot in July in the Cotswolds. Possibly the worst weather of the year for this couple until we had this magic five minutes. And to think 5 minutes earlier there were two rainbows but the bride was nowhere to be seen!

That's a fantastic once in a lifetime shot.

What were you on to get such a high vantage point?

Thanks! It was at a place called Kingscote Barn and fortunately it has a raised terrace which looks over the path so you can get the whole scene and sense of scale.

That is an amazing photo. Even the road bends twice toward the centre of the rainbow leading in perfectly!

I think most couple are more likely to have a large photo of themselves on a wall with an environmental pic like this, rather than a close up. Easy to get stuck on the small detail.

We'll done, you must be well chuffed with this. What did the couple say about it?

You certainly earned your fee that day! It looks like a painting that you'd say was a fantasy scene.

I'm curious though, is that one of your shoot-through umbrellas? :)

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Never noticed the road thing! I see what you mean - cool. I'm a big fan of the large scale stuff and where I am in the Cotswolds there are lots of opportunities to use the landscape. I actually teach landscape photography (Cotswold Photo Walks...check us out!) so love this kind of thing. The rainbow was a true one off and don't think I'll ever get the same opportunity again. I've been asked how much processing was done and if I'm honest, very little. The rainbow really was that good and the sky looked like Armageddon was coming. The only thing I did do was punch the white out with the bride so she really did cut through in the shot.

And yes I was pretty chuffed but not as much as the bride!

Thank you! Re the umbrella, I always tell my couples to buy a few white umbrellas just in case it rains and this is as good a reason as any why! Tenner on Amazon. Best tenner they ever spent...
