I've had my 6d for over a year now and I still cant find a picture style setting I am completely happy with. At the moment I have the picture style on 'auto' with +3 sharpness and -2 contrast. But still not entirely happy with the colours (which can seem fake at times, especially the blues) or the contrast (still too contrasty even on -2 with many shadows appearing as black).

Yes I shoot raw and know I can adjust afterwards, but I cant find a picture style that I particularly like even when using dpp or photoshop to convert the raw images. All need heavy adjustment to look right, and I really cant be bothered doing that for each and every image.

So what I would love to know is, what picture style do other 6d owners prefer? Have you made any tweaks to it?

I have mine set on standard with sharpness up I think 2 ticks and saturation up 1 tick. Others at zero and I never change it. Any post work I do takes me very little time....5 minutes or so depending on the picture. Of course some take considerably longer depending on the subject. Portraiture always takes more time.

Coming from a 600D I noticed that the 6D requires a fair amount of adaptation, if you will. But certainly not a year.

My suggestion to you would be to stay away from anything that says 'auto'. The only way to make the camera do what you want it to do is to remove any decision making from it.

I use Faithful which I think is zeros on everything. If you're shooting raw I don't think it makes a difference as Picture Styles don't show up in RAW in Lightroom.

Sure they do. They should be available in the Profiles. They are pretty close. I use Camera Standard with tweaks to better match DPP Camera Standard.

Is this why during import the image shows up on screen looking pretty good then the colors just go flat within a second or so?

I use DPP and photoshop. I usually process the raw in DPP then bring them over to photoshop.

I know I can go use photoshop to process the raw files, and I used to do that all the time when I owned a 10d. But the 6d files look terrible when I bring them into photoshop first - the picture style makes a huge difference, so I started using DPP as my raw editor.

I know I can choose a picture style in ACR (under camera calibration) but it just isnt the same as DPP.

Much better than choosing a picture style in ACR is to open a picture, get it the way you want it, and then go to Presets and make a new preset.

You will probably end up tweaking it a little, but when you click the new button and name it the same thing it will just save over the old one.

If you pit in just a little effort you will likely end up with a number of presets ... Golden hour, full sun, cloudy, etc.

It will never be the same but it is pretty close. I have been working on a formula to get ACR/LR Standard to look closer to DPP standard. DPP is very good but a tad clunky and Adobe highlight recovery to mention one thing is better.

Both on Camera Standard. DPP on the right.

Digital Paradise - yours look great. Are you able to share how you matched them so well?

Yes this could be the reason. Open them up using Digital Photo Professional and see if they look better there.

Sure. I'm only working with Camera Standard. Sometimes I use faithful but have not looked into it yet. I did this recently.
