Attending Chili Bowl 2017 this year, shots from the stands, through the fence. I am looking for suggestions on shooting from the outside.

Sitting in row 7, with a pretty full house so not much chance to get closer to the fence. I have added shooting detail to the pics all shot with 1D4/70-200 2.8 @ 2.8 and ranging from 160mm to 200mm. Gary

since you're already at 2.8 then you need more lens or move closer. Neither is possible at this point. Other option is extremely low shutter speeds to eliminate the fence like this: IMAGE LINK: https://photos.smugmug.com …11JUN16-0323.jpg&lb=1&s=AIf you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem.

That is what I was coming to the conclusion of, and with a full house, 18 inch wide seats (no typical american race car fan is 18 inches wide), it is almost impossible to get panning with that slow of a shutter speed sitting shoulder to shoulder in the stands. Gary

Earlier in the event I could have, but the events last 2 nights not so much... it is a full house and tonight will be packed to the max. This event started in 1987 and will have 20,000 in attendance... tickets are passed along in peoples wills... Gary
