The supermarket I go to sells flowering orchids in their flower shop. They're pretty pricey. The ones that don't sell, get put out on the bargain bench for $2.99 when their flowers drop. The next stop is the garbage bin. So I have rescued a few. Here is one that flowered this week. 7Dii, 100m macro, focus stacked.

Not sure how you lit it. Or, maybe its the result of the focus stack, anyway it looks flat to me, no dimension to the petals.

I like the idea of getting the rejects from the store. Great source without much investment required.

Morning light from a window behind the camera, not direct sunlight. Somewhat less light from a window to the right. My goal was to get good lighting on the flower interior. If I had more intense side-lighting I don't think I could have gotten it.

I like window light for shooting flowers. I try to get a bit of tonal gradation in the petals to add some depth. Subtle is the key.
