New to Photographing birds - Downy Woodpecker

First post in this section of the forum :) very new to bird photography and bird watching in general. I'm learning that Winter here in southwestern Ontario Canada still offers many different birds to chase with my lens!

Here is a downy woodpecker (please correct me on any species if I name them incorrectly) that I shot this afternoon.

Nice capture of a difficult bird with a rather short wildlife lens.

Nice shot. With a 200mm you must have been close. Good job.

This is a great start, Maggie; welcome to the boards. You got a nice shot there; the woodpeckers can be some of the trickier ones to get nice shots of.
