Does anyone sell filters for the Powershot cameras? I have a Powershot Pro camera and the lens cap keeps coming off. One day I know that I will lose it and the lens will get damaged. Does anyone else have this problem with this camera?

I have a G6 at home and use a Powershot Pro 1 at work. FOR EXTRA LENS PROTECTION -- use the Canon provided adapter ring and then screw in a 58mm UV or skylight filter over your existing lens.
Some watchouts -- you have a high quality Canon lens -- use a high quality filter for the best image quality-- I have a 58mm multicoated HOYA UV filter. Keep the Pro 1 in a protective case when not in use.

also -- in my case, the Pro1 lens cap snaps into place and is quite secure -- perhaps you need a new cap..

Filters are available but be careful with the lens adaptor, very, very fine threads and easy to cross thread, best advice put the filter on and let it stay. The big nuisance with the Pro-1 is the fact that the lens cover is sooo easy to lose bcause it isn't attached. Anybody found a nice clean way to attach to body?

I found the filters for the pro 1 at Best Buy. I bought the UV filter and the Polarizing filter there.
I try to be careful with the adapter ring I have read so much about people have issues of not being able to get it off or it cross threading.
I need to order some spare ones just in case.

Sonya

go to your local camera store and look for the cap keeper, its a small round piece of plastic that is attached to a rubber ring by a thread, you use double sided tape or glue to stick it on your cap, then you attack the rubber end to your neck strap so when you take off the cap, it sorta just hangs there. I had one but didnt like it... and yes, the pro1 lets dust inside verywillingly so when its not in use, keep it in its case or camera bag. you can get extra filter adapters from canon.. youll want one to be able to change the filters, once they are on the adapters, they are a bull to get off again.

I bought Quantaray UV, Circular Polarizer, and Neutral Density 2 filters through Wolf/Ritz Camera. They have a deal of buy 2, get 1 free. If you go for that, be aware that the "free" filter will not be the most expensive of the 3 you pick.

I also bought a Tamrac filter wallet since I bought extra filter adapters for those filters to keep them attached. There's a little more room in the wallet and I'll have my filters in one place.

you need to get the part number from your manual then call canon because its not an actual replacement part, that is why it isnt listed on the site.

For the lens adpater, you can even try Ebay. I think I've come across them before. One thing I found helpful was one of these:

http://www.jr.com …rabber.datafeed.OPT+07551 (external link)

it goes between the filter and the adapter ring. 58mm right? I know it looks weird, but very useful and you won't lose your cap (unless you lose the camera).

it does cause some shadows with the internal flash though.

Call canon parts, 732-521-7230, ask for the FA-DC58A filter adapter. It runs $6 plus change, and shipping is about $6. Not cheap, but the only source I know of.

I don't have my camera with me, but according to Canon's U.S. site for PowerShots, the filter adapter # for the Pro 1 is FA-DC58A.
