Just sold my 17-40/4L, since I wanted to upgrade it.

Was thinking of a used 16-35/2,8L II.

I want to use the lens for both some "random" shooting, but wanted the larger aperture for some amateur astroscapes.
But I also have used the 17-40 for some Landscape-shots, including running water with ND-Filter.

By accident I saw the Tamron 15-30/2.8.

Looks like a GREAT lens for a good price.
Only drawback is that I cant fit any filters.
Is there a solution for this?

Any other options?

(And yes, I do understand that the best would be seperate lenses for each use, but since I'm a Hobbyist to 99% the money kind of comes in to the equation quite fast ;) )

Look into the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 @ $325 new and around $275 used. It's a manual focus lens but you can pretty much pre-focus it at 10' and even at f/2.8, everything from 4.3' to infinity will be in focus.

IDK what body you're using but there are known issues with the 15-30 and the 80D and 5D4. These can be corrected via a firmware update, but if you haven't bought from an authorized Tamron reseller in your home region, apparently Tamron won't update the lens even at cost (ref: photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1473118). I had a similar problem with a Tamron 17-50/2.8 non-VC on the 70D and decided to just sell the lens.

Also, a minor inconvenience is that the focus and zoom rings on Tamron turn in the opposite direction of Canon lenses.

unfortunately, no easy answer.

rokinon 14/24, probably the best astro lenses ever, I use them, very solid.

14 is ok for landscapes, but filters are a mess.... may be better off with a combo like the 16-35 f4 for landscapes that need filters, and 14/24 combo for astro.... just depends how particular you are. You can even do just 16-35 f4/f2.8 for astro and landscapes, again, depending how particular you are.

Sony A7siii/A7iv/ZV-1 - FE 24/1.4 - SY 24/2.8 - FE 35/2.8 - FE 50/1.8 - FE 85/1.8 - F 600/5.6 - CZ 100-300 - Tamron 17-28/2.8 - 28-75/2.8 - 28-200 RXD
Panasonic GH6 - Laowa 7.5/2 - PL 15/1.7 - P 42.5/1.8 - OM 75/1.8 - PL 10-25/1.7 - P 12-32 - P 14-140

I just sold my Tamron 15-30mm, it's a very good lens and significantly better in overall IQ than the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 II. While one of the reasons for my sale was inability to use conventional filters, Haida filter holders have a good alternative. My other reason, it's pretty heavy. Mine is being replaced by the 16-35mm f/2.8 III, I can't do concerts or events without a protective filter.

For about the same price as a 16-35 f/2.8 L II you could get a 16-35 f/4 L and a Rokinon 14 f/2.8; you'd have a better landscape lens and a better astro lens.

Doesn't seem like they are selling the Rokinon in Sweden though :(

mindre distortions
