When someone wants a selfie of me I tend to turn my hand so that fingerprints are toward me. And mostly use just one finger, too. ; D

I have to question the validity of this one. The finger print scanners I've worked with look at the pores and measure the angles between them, not sure what kind of phone camera can do that.

exactly!
none of the cameras in the current cellphones are able to get that much detail.
you probably need a 30+ mp large sensor dslr to be able to capture all the patterns on your fingers at normal portrait/selfie distances
