YES, now I can play around with my old xti & 50D shots without having to switch from DPP 4 to DPP 3...

True :)

However it does show that the old DPP was "modular" enough that they were able to adapt the old raw models from DPP3 into the DPP4 framework. I suspect they started with the initial requirement that nothing old would be supported, but then as they worked through the conversion framework, they found they could bring over DPP3 core routines with little work.
