I haven't tried the 488 ballhead but the 486 seems quite solid and locks tight with the most heavy setup I can manage:

I love how the 055Pro can go very close to the ground, when rearranging the middle pole:

can the 190xpro also get this close to the ground?

Some Q&D shots. Suits the tripod ;)

Gitzo 1325 with 1318 center column (shortened since it was broken)
Markins M10.
1DMk2 with RRS L plate:

80-200L with Novoflex plate:
IMAGE: http://www.moonglade.net/rene/080719Gitzo/content/bin/images/large/rhd_20080719_Gitzo007.jpg

As you might be able to see, the Novoflex plate is square, so I can mount it with the QR clamp in the same direction :)

As you might also be able to see, the Novoflex plates use a different Arca Swiss "standard" then RRS: The clamp has to screw in quite a bit further to lock...

My latest setup: Gitzo 1541T, Markins Q3T and Really Right Stuff BR LR II Clamp. Weighs in at 3.1lbs, closes down to 17", and holds 17.6lbs very stably at up to a rated 200mm lens. LINK to complete review.

I recently ordered a Giottos MT-9360 (external link) & Cullmann Magnesit 35nm Ballhead (external link) that will apparently arrive as soon as Succot ends (which me hopes is soon). I also have an MA24 Alloy 6M Monopod (external link) that I use for my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (and occasionally the 300mm f/2.8L I weasel off my buddy). There is not mount on the monopod as of yet but that will likely be in my next order, until then the screw works fine, just a bit slow.

The Induro Monopod:

The rest of my pictures will be up as soon as they decide to give me my stuff (tripod should be here Monday or Tuesday but the Ballhead won't likely show up til Friday)

I use a Manfrotto 055PROB Tripod with the centre column replaced with a turned alloy plug to which is fitted a Markins M10 ballhead and an RRS LR BR arca swiss style clamp.

I much prefer it without the centre column. I never used it so it was a total waste.

My monopod is a Manfrotto 694 Magfiber, with a 486 ballhead and Markins Q60 arca swiss clamp.

Tripod Setups (Pics)

I have had a quick look, but couldnt find anything on the search.

Currently looking at getting a new tripod and head. So I was wondering if people could post pictures of their tripod setups, as say what they like or dislike about it.

My main interest is in birding for this, however all pics are welcome.

Have seen the wimberely heads, they seems pretty good, however very pricey, anyone got alternatives?

Manfrotto MN190X ProB tripod & Manfrotto MN322RC2 head. Being able to set the tripod shaft horizontally is an excellent feature for setting the camera low to the ground. Maximum height is perfect for me, with all the leg sections fully extended and the shaft set at its highest the camera is level with my eye line and I'm 6' tall.

Here's my new rig, decided against being frugal but the benefit is that I'll never have to buy another tripod or head for birding/wildlife. Can you see it? LOL I guess you get a Sidekick if you already have a nice ballhead, or check out Jobu gimbals, B&H sells them.

Sorry for the poor quality, cell phone pic

IMAGE: http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u264/scot079/jpeg_reencoded.jpg

EDIT: oh yeah, it's a gitzo 3530LS (no center column) Wimberley head II and Wimberley F-9 flash bracket.
