Well there are plenty of other levelling bases that take a normal tripod thread which you could then stick on the Markins base.

Yeah yeah, I know we don't want them dangling, but I just hook mine to the hook under the center column at the very end of it's cable so it doesn't move but I can see/use it. My Gear List

When you don't, stow it out of the way. Another approach might be to place some Velcro on a key spot on the tripod and a patch on the back of the remote. I'll have to give that a try. I always end up hanging my remote over the camera body and still letting it dangle a bit. Darrell

It worked but I try to avoid Velcro when I can (it's noisy).
