if you are in Bulb mode, if you use the wireless remote then you could press the button for 3 seconds and release it then press it again to shut the shutter.

it is available for the 7D (I have one and can use it on my 5Dii, same plug), you just have to find the right link. I will say it's a great wireless remote, but if you're doing long exposures or a series of exposures it's a PITA honestly. The press and hold bit (in bulb) gets old.

and yes I've owned a nikon, I still like using a remote a lot better (-vs- Nikon's weird internal option):
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …oss_Timed_Remote_for.html (external link)

IMAGE: http://static.bhphotovideo.com/images/images150x150/749827.jpg

it's a knockoff of this nikon remote (external link) and is MUCH nicer than canon's version. (external link)

I own (or I should say use, I own more) 3 remotes:
  • totally generic canon button remote, wired. It's got a ~10 extension I wired in for when I don't want wireless but need some distance
  • the wireless one above, only used when I NEED wireless
  • the timer one above, best remote ever. :)

now there is a wireless version of the timer remote I posted, but honestly I'd rather have 2 $50 remotes (one wireless one timer) than 1 $100 remote that might flake on me doing a long exposure. My issue with wireless is the button presses required when doing bulb mode. Mess that up halfway into a 8 minute shot and you'll get frustrated and see why I don't use mine anymore.

not sure what you mean by this but in Bulb mode... I just press it for 3 seconds and let it go and wait until how many seconds or minutes I want then press it again to close the shutter.

I am not holding the button the whole time.

btw, Phottix also has a remote like that :D but I think its more expensive than yours

Er no. The best remote ever is of course the Promote Remote (external link) - one of which I bought S/H off a fellow POTN member.

Nice! I know you think it's the dog's bullocks but, what makes it so much better over any other remote you've ever used? :)

That remote is sexy.

And they offer a tripod case! Finally. Nice to see a company thinking about the actual usuage of their remote for a change.

I think we're literally months away from Android tablets being able to replace full featured remotes for good, but the Promote looks to be the remote standard until then.

Bollocks. Not “Bullocks”. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/dog%27s%20bollocks.html (external link)

It's unique. I'm very into HDR for anything that isn't moving. It drives my DSLR automatically through however many steps of exposure I want (typically 9 or 11, one stop apart at the moment). It does other stuff but it's the multiple exposures that are its unique SP. I did link to the Promote site above.

LOL! I mispelled it. Whatever!:p

Anyways, thanks for the feedback on the remote. :)
