Without that they simply go to a preset "squeeze" so any contraction of the ball will indeed make it looser. Yup -- it helped, but didn't completely fix it. I'll try it again in the cold and see what happens.

I like his legs as well though, I'm considering either his or maybe the 113s (I need to see just how small they are) or maybe a feisel as a hiking tripod rig. I LOVE my 313s for landscape work, because I don't hike more than a few miles, but I'm working on a project on mount washington right now and the 5lb 313 is a bit much weight wise, but also collapsed length wise.
