I did a search and haven't found any reviews. Looks like its $350 and not sure if its often on sale at that price but I remember the Streaklight 360s going for about that much.

I shoot outdoors in bright and sunny Arizona and am looking to get into HSS to shoot my lenses more wide open. That would be the primary use for a strobe, so HSS is critical, TTL is not. May occasionally light large groups at a wedding but I am doing more in open shade for those.

Opinions, please :-D

How about this thread: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1393390

1700+ opinions in there ;-)a

If you hit "Search" up the top and just type in "Rovelight" a few threads appear which should help you.

Be honest. Did you actually do a search? I don't think you actually did a search.

I searched this forum. Haven't turned to The Google Internets Machine yet.

Text I entered was: "Flashpoint RoveLight 600," which mostly brings up items for sale and questions on how to use. Searching just "Rovelight" brought up the thread Kellers listed. Thanks!

The thread mentioned above:
https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1393390

. . has very extensive information on the Rovelight RL 600 offering Long duration Supersync - not - pulsing style HSS. I'm still using this light and above-max-sync-speed flash is highly usable but under Supersync, there is a Gradient across the whole frame, usually darker at the top (in landscape). The thread shows ways to ameliorate this phenomenon.

(NB: The new "ORLIT – RoveLight RT 610 TTL" is a totally different animal!)

Thanks. Yes, I read at least a dozen pages of it so far and it sounds like people are giving up on the HSS and I'm trying to figure out if its because they prefer an ND filter or if the HSS is too finicky and it may be better to spring for a better (more expensive model). -?

Many of JoeyBaccala's above-sync-speed ie Supersync photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brettjosephsphoto/ (external link)
were taken with a Rovelight.

But of course, consider both the Godox AD600 & rebrands - and - the Orlit Rovelight/Jinbei 610 TTL as well.

Agree even though XPLOR600 is probably little less powerful than Rovelight.

Why would it be less powerful? They're both 600W monolights.

On paper XPLOR600 is 600ws, not in reality from my quick testing. Also HSS (true pulsing like on XPLOR600) eats more power than HyperSync on Rovelight. So if one is doing outside sun shots, Roveligt may be better option. I like XPLOR600 better as I don't want heavy strobe hanging up on light stand and with available extension head on XPLOR600, it is so much easier.

Bobbyz,
I AM buying a strobe for shooting shallow DOF in bright sunlight. So 1/4,000 if not faster. So which is better for me?
Thanks!

True, and you can also put the 1200w/s head on it too if I recall?

I can shoot f1.4/f1.2 if needed with XPLOR600. I think you can do same with Rovelight. Just check threads on both and you will see very nice images. Haven't had much time after getting mine except few shoots.

Here is f1.8 & 1/4000.
