I've never sold/bought anything from our own POTN Classifieds. How does it work, or how do you set it up to sell? I have a PayPal account, but I don't know how I use PayPal for transactions.

You can use a template in the sticky if you want (https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=681676) If someone is interested, they will probably send you a private message or email stating they are interested and/or would like to buy your item. Typically someone will pay for the goods before you ship. All you need to do is give them your paypal address (email address you log into paypal with) and they send you money through paypal. I highly recommend NOT accepting the "gift" option as payment as that negates any protection you and the buyer have. People may use this option to get around paying transaction fees (you, the seller, incurs the transaction fees). Once you receive the money in your paypal account you ship the item. Thank you for responding. A couple questions: 1) who typically pays for shipping and what method of shipping is typically used? 2) how much is the PayPal transaction fee, and is it always the seller who incurs the fee?

Jan 20, 2017 22:32 | #4 Oh, one other question: Once I receive the money in my PayPal account, how do I get the money from PayPal? Or, is it always going to be in the account in a form of "credit"?

Some people add shipping onto final sale price and some people include it into the asking price. Shipping provider can vary as well but normally either USPS, UPS or FEDEX.

Once the money is in your paypal account you can do a withdrawal and the funds will be electronically deposited into your bank account. I think they may have an option to send a paper check as well, but not sure. Great, thank you for answering the questions.

Also, as a buyer, I prefer an "all in" price (PayPal fees, shipping and insurance) rather than "net to me" pricing. As a seller, this is how I price items. Speaking of insurance, I strongly recommend you ship insured. While it's unlikely that your shipment will be lost or damaged, insured shipping is relatively inexpensive. Thanks for the suggestions, will keep those in mind.

Ship to the address listed by Paypal ... never ship to an alternate address if you want to be protected . People steal other peoples paypal but have stuff shipped to an alternate address . If you do and the true owner of the account disputes , you lose and the money is taken away from your account . Unless you ship to the address provided by paypal , even if they were hacked you are protected .
