I've been contemplating the use of remote control/viewing access using my iPad for my 60D. Searching the net results in many ideas and products, which can be a bit confusing or uncertain to which will work for my needs.

Anyone using remote/viewing access with an iPad and can recommend what you're using?

Thank you

If you mean wireless tethering, then CamRanger. Very good product. I use it in studio or on location when I need to see a large preview myself or show a client while shooting. Easier than tethering to a laptop. Helps with composition and exposure for product shots, food and architectural work. The software is what sets it apart.

You can also do most of what Camranger does with a $50 DIY version. See here:

I've been *very* happy with Camranger! It is a little spendy.

Is there a benefit of using a TP-Link over the camera's onboard WiFi? It seems like they both do the same thing.

I normally just run a USB cable to my laptop and that has served me well enough. So just curious about any benefits.

I know with my Canon cameras I have compatibility issues when trying to use EOS utility for pre shutter live view and Lightroom for post shutter review.

If anyone can shed light on this issue, that would be great too.

My WIFI experience is limited to a Canon 70D. I've found it impossible to configure for reliability with iOS. My takeaway, right or wrong, is that Canon doesn't know WIFI, or doesn't know iOS, or both :-(

I too had positive experiences with USB tethering.

The Camranger, on the other hand, does much more and has been dead solid reliable. It isn't the easiest to learn to configure, but once I got my head wrapped around the registration and networking setups it's been incredibly good!

I've read many reviews on the Camranger and though it looks great, I was trying to learn if there were other wireless tethering I can use which are similar and a bit less in cost.

Thanks for the replies.
