scobols Goldmember More info | Feb 01, 2017 07:18 | #19 Have you considered trying to completely remove the remaining lens coating? Although it's not ideal and there may be other consequences, it may be better than it is now.

Feb 01, 2017 07:44 | #22 for a lens like this, I would have gave 20-50 for the item, 100 is steep. Coating loss is an understatement..... This thing looks like it was sandblasted. I'de send a photo of the front to various repair shops to see how much the damage would be. Feb 01, 2017 09:29 | #23 I've looked at sending it to sigma...the whole auction was really an unknown, so i figured what the hell...the flare right now is terrible, so i'm not sure if it's worth polishing it more... i'm hoping sigma gets back to me with some idea that they will at least offer a replacement front element as an option...otherwise it'll go back on ebay Andre or Dre

Mar 29, 2017 22:50 | #26 so just a quick update...mainly because when i searched high and low, i couldn't find a price for front element replacement on the sigma 8-16mm...so i sent it to sigma...they had said it would be $150 to replace the front element...but the total ended up being $200 +$20 shipping...the front element was replaced, as well as the front hood section, as well as adding a lens cap Andre or Dre
