A while ago POTN's favicon changed to an info button and clicking that Firefox says the connection to POTN is not secure. Here's a screenshot:

Just thought I would report it. Never had this happen before with POTN.

I'm getting that too now. Chrome shows it, too. Don't know if they were previously.

Yes, that is what happens this year with many browsers and Google, they prefer SSL connections which is good with many sites, and warn to be careful what data you enter there. For POTN the https is not so necessary (except for login/cookie protection), but still, I'll make POTN use (DV) SSL later this year (after next version update gets installed).

Sites like this which contain a lot of embedded content from non-secure sites, the icon might not change to the green lock, for some pages it could be like bottom right image in

Pekka, your image is too large!!

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't think it was an issue here, but good to know it's on your list now.
What I don't get is why FF started doing this all of a sudden. I'm trying to remember if FF was updated lately. I can't remember and need to check the log for that.

Levina, Firefox hasn't issued an update for several weeks.

I haven't seen the warning you got, and I use Firefox every time, just FYI.

I noticed because this afternoon the favicon changed into a white square in Firefox's bookmarks. I then looked at the toolbar and it was gone there too and replaced by the info symbol. I have no way of knowing if the "unsecure" notice was already there before the favicon disappeared.

I have used FF for years exclusively with no problems. I have never seen the warning you have gotten.

How do you check the log for when the last update happened?

I checked and guess what, Firefox was updated two days ago, on 26 January! So now we know why it suddenly started to play difficult.

Charles, on a Mac you can find the update history in the preferences under the Advanced tab. There you can click "Show Update History". I assume it's the same on a pc.

OhLook, check by clicking "Firefox" and choose "About Firefox". That will tell you if you have the latest version for your OS.
However, if I remember correctly, you're still on an older version of OS, Snow Leopard I think? If so, you won't get new updates for FF as they ended support for it last year. Here's the notice: https://blog.mozilla.org …firefox-support-for-os-x/ (external link)

If you are still on SL then stop using Firefox. Apple may still support Safari on SL, not sure. Best would be if you upgraded to the latest OS.

Thank you Levina! I found it, but it seems odd on a PC they don't seem to show dates.

I would think they would do the same on PC's as they do a Mac....
