I shoot with a 5d4 which is only around 2 weeks old. So I was shooting a bridal party entrance into the reception. The camera says "error writing to card". I quickly run and grab my 6d to photo the bride and groom entrance.

I cannot describe the panic I had within myself thinking all the images had been erased from the CF and SD card.

Thankfully, only the bridal party entrance shots were not saved. Tried Card Recovery software, could not retrieve the bridal party entrance photos.

I'm not sure what happened. The camera had been out in 44c degree heat all day, had not been turned off and pretty much took photos from 11am to 6pm. I figured it might have overheated, however I didn't think DSLR's could overheat. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Any electronics can overheat. Where I live it is a problem if you leave a camera in a car in direct sun but I have never had a problem out in the open. 44c if in open sun could cause problems on my opinion.

Here is Canon's recommendation for operating temperature for the 5D4:

If the camera had been in 44C temps all day, then yes I would say that this could cause problems.
