Hi,
I have an old 400D with the Tamron 17-50 zoom, not VLC. I read in other posts that there could be some issues beteween old Tamron lenses and this new camera. I visited the Tamron websites and as far as I understand I didn't find any news about my lens. Is somebody aware about issue between 80D and 17-50 lens?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Check the thread at https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/57517356 (external link).

I seem to remember seeing something about a week ago but only with certain lenses and the 17-50 doesn't seem to be one of them. It caused the some Canon cameras to lock up when using LIveView but alerted users of the 80D that not all auto focusing functions would be available. Tamron can rechip the affected lenses but most people just worked around the limitation. See http://www.tamron-usa.com/about/updates_canon.php (external link) for the details on all cameras but I've copied the 80D section below..

So it seems that my lens is not affected by any issues with Canon 80D

This lens has should be compatible with all recent Canon bodies. It is also the most reliably accurate focusing lens I have (determined via FoCal analysis).

Also, if anyone does need a firmware update to assure compatibility, rest assured that Tamron service is very fast, and you will have your lens back in just a few days.
