I got a 5DIII today, and this is one of the first things I caught with it. Pretty stoked!

I'd be stoked too! Very nice shot. Nice to see how it performs with the 150-600. Been getting very interested in that one lately... :-P

Thanks. It nails the focus, but it is slow compared to my 7DII, but that's expected. I've been pretty happy with the lens.

Off to a good start well done, my 5D3 is faster at focusing than my 'old' 7D2.

Canon R6 II, RF 800mm.
I like what I like.

Lots of braches to contend with. A pity they were not closer for you.

Nice capture of a "parent" chastising a "child"!

The eagle on the right, since it lacks the white tail feathers is relatively immature. The tail feathers and head don't get to be solid white until about 5 years of age. It is a gradual change to white and the beak also turns from black to yellow.

Thanks. The adult is still pretty young. He's still got a little brown left on his head. They both like this particular tree. Sometimes there will be a HUGE juvenile BE there as well.

Thank you :) It's slower with this lens, I literally got it right before I took this shot, so I haven't really used it with anything else. It was decently fast with my 70-200 2.8, but I was just shooting to see how much I could crop. Look forward to shooting with it more :)

I think you are right about the adult and the juvi/immi may not be a direct offspring. Very nice behavioral capture.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

I see by your profile "Lake Tahoe." Where was this taken, the lake I assume? I know the area well having worked many years for a large company in Minden, NV.

Hey John. It's actually from your old neighborhood. This was at the Dangberg Home Ranch just outside of Minden. It's calving season, so there's several Bald Eagles around.

Never got much over to Rt. 88 but during calving season, I used to see the occasional golden eagle on my drive out Bently Parkway.
