DIY Gel Holder

My initial attempt at this was several years ago, but I decided to revisit the project with some improvements in mind.

Some years ago I was shopping at a local Lowes one day when I came across this gutter downspout. It was not only very light but made of strong material, so the idea of my gel holder came to being:

It was quite simple to make. I merely painted it black, placed some velcro inside the downspout for nice snug fit to the speedlite head, and made an incision at the top for the Rosco gel that I got free from a local gel store:

I then laminated the Rosco gels with the color ID intact:

I found out, however, that laminating the gel itself didn't turn out to be a good idea as it had a "diffused" effect. So I started all over but this time laminating the color ID and attaching it to the very top portion of the gel itself with a transparent tape.
