I have a 27" Retina iMac and the 12.9" iPad Pro. I usually use my iPad with Astopad when editing, but I was thinking of using a 2nd display for all of the tools in photoshop so I just have the menu bar and image on my main screen.

I came across Duet https://www.duetdisplay.com/# (external link) and was wondering if anyone has tried this. It was developed by former apple people, so it should be pretty easy to use.

Any comments on experience with this app would be appreciated!

I also have an iPad Pro and Mac. I regularly use the iPad as a second display using duet, very quick to connect and easy to use with no lag. I also use the IPad as a second screen with a Windows laptop when I'm away with work.

I have MacBook Air 13" and I use my iPad Air 2 as the second display using duet app. I tried many free apps earlier because I didn't wanted to waste my $10 for an app.

Unfortunately none of them worked well. There was lot of jitteriness and stuttering of display and some apps also showed me ads in bottom which was really disturbing. I am using Duet for about 5-6 months now and really enjoying it. I have researched a lot and used many apps but none of them are as good as Duet.

Even duet has few problems like sometimes even after connecting my iPad through lightning cable to my mac it still doesn't detect and I have to then reconnect. I know this could be problem of my iPad or its lightning cable but this is the problem I am facing right now which i think you should know about.

I've looked at Duet for a while and have always wondered if it was really that good. I might have to give it a shot.
