I had the pleasure of working with a Canon 100-400 MK II for the weekend. Hoping for some great wildlife shots, I headed for the Wichita Mountains NWR in southwest Oklahoma. This place is not as well known as some other national lands but it is one of my favorites and I know it well. It's a mixed grass prairie that has never been plowed surrounded by low granite mountains with wonderful rock formations. It's the ancient land of the Apache, the Comanche, and the Kiowa and, even in the dead of winter, it can be fascinating.
But this time the animals were not too co-operative - especially the buffalo who stayed far from the road. So I spent some time using the Canon lens know for wildlife as a landscape lens. Here are a couple from the trip.
