Just discovered this the other day and it works great for Canon and Nikon only cameras. The best part is its free.

You do realize that the focus point used for AF is often NOT on the subject after someone reframes the shot?...Even when one chooses an AF point other than the center one, even small reframing adjustment moves the AF point to somewhere in space other than where it was superimposed when focus was taken.

  • From their own web site,

  • "a plugin for Adobe Lightroom which shows you which of your camera's focus points were used when you took a picture. "
  • Note that it

  • does NOT 'shows where the point of focus is within the scene'

So it is important that those reading about this product and considering it are aware of what it does and does not show them.

Its good for motorsport for example, or any time continuous AF is used, but that's about it.

I have it for LR but I still prefer to use DPP for that. You can tell it to only show AF points in focus like in the images below. I find them all irritating.

I was tracking this gull when it swooped up during a burst. Thanks for TS settings Canon. I do that a lot. So you really can't trust it 100%.
