I've had the 17-50 non-VC. Nice enough lens, but it couldn't seem to focus in lower light. Not much different than the Canon 50mm f/1.8. Also had the 24-70 VC. Nothing against the lens. I just don't thing f/2.8 zooms are worth the bother. Not interested in the Canon, either.

More info | Feb 07, 2017 08:31 | #6 kinda hard to compare an old Tamron lens from back in the day with the old focus motors in them and all compared to these new ones with the ultrasonic motors that are faster and more accurate. the previous 70-200 VC seem to get very good reviews and most users loved them My gear

Feb 08, 2017 11:19 | #8 My Tamron 17-50 (non-VC) is the most accurately and consistently focusing lens I have ever owned, as documented by FoCal analyses. No problems in low light. The reviews of the 70-200 VC (the current model, not the one just announced) are, and have been from the beginning, consistently very positive, and are consistent with my experiences. The 150-600s (either model) are quite good, and you would have to spend a lot more for marginal improvements. Feb 08, 2017 22:35 | #9 I want to see reviews on the 10-24. I have been wanting to go full frame but reality is I don't need to and this having a great review might tip the scales back to staying on crop.
