Another week of difficult decisions! I wish I could award ties, but here goes:
Trumper, "Try planning this detail": If I tried planning it, I'd end up with half a medallion at the far end and a third of one on the side. An interesting choice of subject and an appropriate treatment that raises the question "Does this thing go on forever?" Your shot makes me curious about the building and where it was.
Car, "Can you Move the Rubbish Please?" Now, this is exactly what I had in mind for the theme, an image that is made special by one subtle detail. In fact, the crucial detail, that tiny bit of red, was so subtle that I had to hunt for it to figure out your title. Plus, the picture is funny!
Jim Askew, "HO Gauge Coal Car": Good job at showing how the accurate details add appeal to miniature models, kind of a cross between technology and cuteness. The workshoppy background provides a human context for your subject, and its blur brings out, by way of contrast, how careful the construction of the car is.
corythosaurus, "1897 Details": Lovely shot of an impressive antique. I like the way the colors came out. Was this in natural light, or did you "help it along"?
Maureen Souza, "My Darling Clementine": Again, nice color effects, few hues but they're complementary. A fruit taken apart is a still-life subject that you don't usually see and probably most people wouldn't have thought of. Clever title.
Winners (the hard part for me)
#1: corythosaurus
#2: Maureen Souza
#3: Car
Special award for adherence to theme (i.e., reading the judge's mind): Car
