I have been searching for a used Canon 200-400 1.4x lens and have come across many fraudulent auctions and posts from people claiming to have one that they are selling cheap.
These ads have been found on Ebay, Craigslist, and Amazon and there is no doubt that they are scams when you see a price that is too good to be true.
If purchased new from a reputable retailer you will pay upwards of $12,000 for this lens. If you find a legitimate used one for sale you will pay approximately $9,000
So if you see an ad from someone claiming to offer one for $2,000 please report the ad to have it removed.

Here is a reply that I got from a seller on Amazon
Hello,
I will explain in this email all terms and condition.

The Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4xis BRAND NEW, never used, ( US model, not grey market or refurbished), but Amazon does not let us list it as new.
The product is Sealed in its original box and comes with full Warranty, receipt, all manufacturer supplied accessories...
The total price is $2000.00 including all shipping taxes if you are in US and for international shipping you have to pay extra 29,99 $ (outside US) .

If you want to buy, send me your phone number, full name, shipping address and I will contact Amazon asap to process your order. Dispatch is by normal UPS Services, which takes 1-3 days depending on where in the US you are.
My return policy is full money back in 30 days.

The two sellers on Amazon was 1) klaushccshop and 2) Cindy Farley
The above response was from Klaushcchop and his contact email was storeemag@gmail.com

Considering all the grammatical mistakes, falsehoods on how to list and how to process an order on Amazon in that email, it is very clear that is a scam. :)

You can report listing violations. But like ebay, the faster Amazon shuts down these sellers, they reopen.

LOL, no doubt! Aside from everything mentioned above, the fact that a $10,000 lens is being sold for $2,000 is a dead giveaway too.

If anyone falls for something like this, they need to get with the modern times!

Cheers,
Bryan

The only thing missing is the Nigerian Prince. This shouldn't be too much of a problem, though. Anyone one responding to such an ad likely does not have the ability to follow the instructions.

same deal now with the 600/4 IS II.

Amazon now has one for $2,010 + $17.32.

As much as I'm interested in a legit. used 600mm, I'll pass on this great deal.

I saw in slickdeals that Canon refurbished is offering 10% discount and one of them is the lens you are looking for.

I check the refurb site quite frequently and I can't remember ever seeing the 200-400 in stock.

You also have to be super careful on Amazon as a seller. I tried to sell a few Zeiss lenses on there, and got an email that looked EXACTLY like it came from Amazon, indicating that my lens was purchased, where to send, etc. When I say exactly, it was a dead ringer for what an Amazon email would look like. I kept looking at my Amazon account, wondering why the funds weren't there and why the page was not updating. I thought there was some sort of potential delay with Amazon updating their page.

Needless to say, I never shipped the lens and it was a total scam. But that email I received was spot on. A lot of smart people out there looking to take advantage.
