HELLO! I usually post over in the wildlife section but as it is now northern lights season I thought I would branch out.
Just wondering what people were doing for the latest and greatest in Northern Lights photography. I'm based out of Alaska and Canada for aurora shooting. Interested in what folks are seeing in other parts of the world.

Anyone?

Not as stunning as your shots, but I was happy to get this while at a cottage, last fall. I was so glad we stayed at a different cottage than we usually do, as the other cottage faces south and has no view to the north, so I would've missed this.

Thanks. It's in Dwight, Ontario. Just outside of Algonquin park, on Oxtongue Lake.

Got this in Upper Michigan in September 2015. We get them once in a while, but the low light pollution helps a lot.

Here's the Southern Hemisphere's equivalent (the Aurora Australis or Southern Lights), plus some bioluminescent plankton (Noctiluca scintillans) in the waves! Captured just south of Hobart in Tasmania, Australia in September 2016.

Depends on the time of year, but yes. Up in the Keweenaw Peninsula you're away from almost all light pollution, and there are some tall hills/"mountains" to set up on for pictures over land and Lake Superior. Beautiful area. There's been times I've been caught without a camera (always when they're the brightest, of course).

Forty below but stunning displays for two nights in a row and we had the cold gear to stay outside and enjoy it. That was 2013 and we liked the the stupid cold so much, we went back to Fairbanks last month. We're coming back to Alaska in July to see what the normal folk go there for.

Another shot from that night. The scene is lit by the aurora, is straight out of the camera and is how we saw it.

I don't know that there are any "normal folk" in Alaska. Cool shot of Orion too.
