Well, after years I finally got lucky enough that a Belted Kingfisher sat still for 30 seconds.
I'm glad I had 600mm or so to work with too.

I'd like to go back with a blind and get close than 120 ft or so. Lol

Thanks guys. Next time maybe I can get closer. Even 20 ft would help.

Very nice, Jeremy!
Persistence will pay off with a blind, they will know you're there but after a while they will let you get a shot.
They know ALL! heheh
With camouflage I have had them land 3 feet from me, of course that's too close to shoot with a long lens, I have had that happen twice.

Thanks Randy.
This Sigma has a 9ft min distance.
With my luck they'd land at 7ft. Ha

Looks like the Sigma is working well. Any regrets selling the 100-400? (I'm loving it, but know the extra reach would be handy).

Great shot. Very hard to catch these little guys, especially the males. They never hang around very long.

The Sigma is heavier and more bulky. It's focus speed is not quite as good (but it goes through 200mm more focal length) and the AF doesn't hit as fast or accurately as the 100-400.
But as long as I'm not doing flight stuff it shouldn't matter.
It's a good lens.

Thanks. I got pretty lucky. I need to give a tripod a shot next time.

Yeah. That rattling noise they make does sound like they're laughing. Probably are.
