I was using Domain.com for my domain for a couple of years but recently just quit. They have just been raising the price year after year. The second year they raised the price by 2X, by the third year it was already at 4X the original price, which is ridiculous.

All i need is the name, hosting will be done by a separate website.

I see GoDaddy has some 99 cent specials, of course i know the price will go up the next year but to how much? $6-10? does it stay consistence after the first year? or does it just keep climbing ?

Different domains have different costs. From my experience a "regular" domain from Godaddy will stay around $15.00 USD. There are cheaper domains, most of them ending in something other than ".com."

The more expensive domains are generally ones more users would want to own. For example if something like NYCphoto. com was available, it would probably cost several hundred dollars a year.

my .net from domain.com was upped to $18 and it wasn't even the dot com i wanted, for a .net it just seems liked a waste. Especially since I had so many issues with them not correctly re directing stuff.

I was looking for something that stayed at $10, it's just a hobby page so nothing for business.
