if it wasn't f6.3 on the long end, i could see that maybe being a possibility...but with the f6.3, it makes me think that it's more of a budget telephoto, then something to compete with the 100-400II...but who knows, we'll all see when the prices are released

the 135 is interesting to me, but i'm just kinda hoping it's release drops the price of the 135L that i've been itching to get

here's my random, based on nothing guesses at prices

14mm $1,200
24-70mm $1000
135mm $1100
100-400mm $600

i hope they get officially announced soon, it's always exciting with new lenses

I totally missed that it was 6.3. The old 120-400 OS HSM was 5.6 so I just assumed. How much did the older 120-400 sell for when it was fairly new to the market? With the 150-600C under a grand, the new 100-400 is going to have to undercut that price by a good deal or people will just by the 150-600. My guess is that the 100-400 may just be a little too consumer quality for my desires then. Oh well I'll still keep an eye out for reviews.

interesting you caught the 6.3, that probably means the lens will be somewhat lightweight

for the size and weight of the sigma 14, you can get a nikon 14-24 f2.8....

outrageously big and specialized lens

Which can't do f/1.8...

I guess we can move this thread to the EF lenses forum because Sigma made the official announcements. B&H has them listed but no pricing yet.

you're pretty close already...have you tried the 20A, or is it too close to 24 for you?

Too close but I find the 20 to be better for me however I can't get over how small and light the 24 is so hard to let that one go.... the fact the 24 can be used without a hood makes it even smaller option. Just used my 24 today in chicago with my kids and still impresses me how accurate it is in low light. Shooting 1.4 1/160 and 4,000 iso and it nails focus just fine.

What I find amazing is the 135 is shorter than the 85A and exact same weight. It's MTF chart means it'll be sharper than the 200 F2

I'm about to sell the 200 for the 135... it'll fit in my bag much nicer and handle all the needs I wanted the 200 for... meanwhile I"ll pickup a 400 2.8 to handle my tele needs.

wait... no thats dumb. Not getting rid of 200.

I'de love to get the 135, but it's a whopping 400g heavier than the L counterpart....

I'm good, I'll keep the L

The 85 art is already neck and neck with the 200 F2 as far as IQ goes. The 200 is barely.... barely... better. This 135 will match and/or exceed the 200 F2 performance.

I put this together showing the sigma MTF charts and what I do is compare them to the lens rental data to get a baseline of how they compare which led me to see the 85 Art was really sharp and this 135 will be even better.

What amazes me also is the fact the 14 out performs the 20 and the 24.

When you look at that above chart then compare how lens rentals tested the 85A and see how the 200 F2 stacks up.... then you look at the 135 1.8 chart.... This is going to get really interesting.

Mark this post when I say the 135 1.8 Art will match the 200 F2 MTF charts if not exceed. This will be the new king of 135 just like the 85A is the new king of autofocusing 85's.

what I'm happy most about is how Sigma continues to raise the bar for themselves. They have consistently moved their standards up the mountain and will accept no less from anything they release.

The other thing the 135 having a limiter will really help in those low light times and the size I have found the 85A to be fine... weight... fine... Love the images the 85A gives me.
