Sigma 14/1.8 Art and 135/1.8 Art primes are coming!

Medium Format. I get the big format benefits.... I really do. But for me I need an all around camera and people just don't get it always wanna talk me into sony or something else. The 5D4 is a 10 year camera for me.... it really is. Does everything I want it to great.

The only lens in that fuji lineup that looks interesting is the 110mm F2 but it's still only F2 at that mm... *cringe*

You do realize that the equivalent f stop is like 1.5-1.6 on that f2 lens. Like a 2.8 lens on a 7D gives the DOF on a 4.5 lens on full frame, the medium format goes the other way. What is the crop factor there like .8?

yup yup yup... it's .79. 85 F1.4 will still beat it but the DOF benefits do favor the 35mm format w/ F1.4 glass and so far nothing would come close to a 35mm format and 200/2 lens but the benefit from moving to MF (medium format) is not in itself for the DOF.... you get a different pop with the MF more 3D natural like but the major benefits apart from detail would be the dynamic range and overall color tonal rendition.

Ya I'm real familiar w/ all the perks and such w/ the MF format. I could buy into it... it's attractive... but I go from dance recitals where I'm bouncing around ISO 1600-12,800 to kids sports, birthday parties, travel, school plays... I'm regularly in low light at the 1/640-1/1000 shutter range and REGARDLESS OF DOF exposure is still exposure and I shoot F1.4 and higher shutter in natural light.... or I need a really good TTL Flash setup and I need speed. The 7FPS is minimum for me from the 5D4... I'm more of an 10fps kinda guy but the Fuji or others are only like what 3fps? What about battery life?... I continually will shoot 700-900+ on a single battery and thats w/ alot of dpaf video clips too. oh video... I been shooting 4K w/ DPAF on the 5D4... which means I get frame grab too for casual sharing.

I mean... sure the MF is all spiffy and such for all you "real" photographers out there but I'm just a dad and have been blessed with 1st... a wonderful family and 2nd... the amazing 5D4 that fits my families needs.

oh... and the lenses are really boring.

For what it is worth, I am just a dad too but with with a much more limiting financial manager even though I feel we could spend a lot more on gear...

The 135L is my all time favorite lens... I'm curious to how the 135 1.8 will do. My only concern is that I keep hearing about inconsistent AF with Sigma lens, and I'm hoping that won't be the case with their 135.

I am hoping Canon will work on releasing 135L II, hopefully with IS. Only problem it will cost $1500 if not more.

According to Canon Rumors a new Canon 135 is coming.

$1400 for the 135. I may have to revise my prediction on the 14mm from $1600 to closer to $2000.

On a positive note, my bank account will be happy, cause I am not paying those prices for sigma glass.

WOW !!! The Sigma lens is pricey. I am sure it is a stellar lens but ... A risky move my Sigma..IMO.

in general all photography gear is getting more expensive due to the exchange rate and the fact the overall market is shrinking (thus higher prices everywhere) This is why the GH5 and EM1 Mark II are $2000

I predict the 135LII is going to be at least $1800.

Why? Because its how things have been going lately. Every new lens is getting a big jump in price because Canon/Nikon/Etc cant make money at the current pricing. Keep in mind the Nikon 105mm f/1.4 is $2200. The closest direct competitor, Sony's 135mm f/1.8 ZA Sonnar is $1800. So the Sigma is not overpriced compared to those two lenses (Nikon's 135mm f/2 is also about $1400 as well.. The Canon is really the oddity being "only" $1000)

In other words, its expensive now but when the new Canon drops it will probably be cheaper, and its still less than the other two lenses that are close to it in spec. Sigma has been dropping some stellar lenses on top of it so we shouldn't count it out because "its a Sigma"

I was afraid of this after seeing how much the 135A was priced at. If the 14 is priced higher than this 135, I'll have to reconsider buying the 14A.

I had Sigma 30mm f1.4 which beat my 135L, 35mm f1.4 and even 300mm f2.8 IS I. And it only cost me $300. I moved to FF so had to sell but it was my best purchase. Sigma 85mm f1.4 non ART was same way. I had that and 85L and trust me Sigma was as good as the L. Ask Mr. Talley whom I sold that lens. And now ART series are still better. I like the new competition. Just wish Sigma would start making some lenses for Fuji.

I had the 30 1.4.. It was a good lens. Mine had to hunt to find focus in low light, it would miss focus and the build quality was not great. I could not trust the lens on a professional shoot. For $300 it was a good lens. It was SHARP.

This was my experience with the 30 1.4 before I moved to full frame.

I had a non-art 50 1.4 and it literally was the worst electronic product I have ever purchased in my life. 97% of images were out of focus, because it couldn't EVER find focus. It only was able to hit focus at MFD. I had SUCH a poor experience, that I never bought another Sigma. Until the art line came out. Now, I have a Sigma 24A and it's an absolutely incredible lens, so hoping the 14A will give me the same experience (As long as it's not $1500+).
